Continuing on our review of the hot podcast topics of Arrows of Revival in 2019, we cover the last two topics - “It’s All About Sex”, and Maneuvering Life’s Storms Together in Marriage”. The following episodes were chosen from a correlation of the most popular pages on our website, the most downloaded episodes, and the most engaging topics on our Facebook page. Then, we limited the list to matters that were either major topics in the news this year, or an area that we want to highlight.

Manifestations of Sexual Idolatry  

The following are some of the trends that have continued into 2019 on the subject. 

  • Unwarranted Divorces - Divorce rate has more than doubled around the world over the past four decades.[1]

  • Adultery - Adultery has increased around the world in occurrence and visibility.[2]

  • Fornication - a study of about ¾ of the world found that a majority embraced pre-marital sex as acceptable, only 46% found it morally unacceptable. In the United States alone at the start of the 20th century, almost 100% found pre-marital sex morally unacceptable, this dropped to about 70% in the middle of the century, 40% in the 1970s, and is about 25% currently.[3]

  • Same-Sex Marriage - over two dozen countries allow same-sex marriage and were almost all enacted during the 21st century.  As a result, same-sex marriage is increasing around the world. [4]

  • Pornography - As of 2018, there were 26 Million porn websites which came to about.3 billion porn web pages. On a single website over 91 and a half billion porn videos were viewed in 2017. [5]

  • Abortion - More than 50 million abortions occurred worldwide between the period of 2010 - 2014 according to the World Health Organization. [6]

  • Sexual Entertainment - According to a study by psychologists at  Dartmouth University conducted in 2012, children that are exposed to sexual content in films tend to have sex at a younger age, and treat sex more casually. “Researchers found that 68 percent of G, 82 percent of PG, and 85 percent of PG-13 rated movies of the 684 movies included in the study contained sexual situations.” [7]        

  • Sexting - one study found that about 50% of adults have used their mobile device to either send or receive intimate content. [8] Another study from the American Psychological Association conducted in 2015 found the following: “The researchers found that 88 percent of participants reported ever having sexted and 82 percent reported they had sexted in the past year. Nearly 75 percent said they sexted in the context of a committed relationship and 43 percent said they sexted as part of a casual relationship.[9]
