HOW TO INCREASE THE IMPACT OF YOUR MINISTRY

Scriptures & Highlights

Be Faithful

2 Timothy 1:14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

  1. Live a holy life

  2. Create boundaries to avoid sin

  3. Be loyal to local church and leadership

  4. Continue in the things you have learned.

Pray and Fast

Paul stressed the importance of prayer to Timothy.

2 Timothy 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men

Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

  1. Pray at least an hour daily

  2. Fast at least once per week

Martin Luther, the well-known reformer who triggered the Protestant Reformation, once said: “I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer”

Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

Bible Study

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Timothy 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

  1. Prioritize Bible reading, meditation, and study (At least 1 hour daily)

  2. Create your own personal outline of the Bible

  3. Create your personal topical Bible

  4. Memorize Gripping Bible Stories (Miracles of Jesus, Acts of Faith, etc.)

  5. Memorize Gripping Bible Verses

  6. Memorize Gospel Verses

Expand Ministry Knowledge and Skills

I Timothy 4:14-15 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 15Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

  1. Take formal college/seminary courses

  2. Read quality Christian books

  3. Follow a powerful, mature, and seasoned ministry leader

Record revelations of your calling to ministry

I Timothy 1:18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

Paul instructs Timothy to use the revelations and prophecies in his ministry to fight forward in the ministry.

  1. Also, memorize associated scriptures with the revelation

  2. Refer back to it periodically

  3. Use it to motivate when low

Paul often recounted his call to ministry.

Galatians 1:15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

Covet the Best Spiritual Gifts Related to Your Ministry (I Corinthians 14:1)

2 Timothy 1:6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

I Timothy 4:14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee

  1. Identify the gifts needed for your ministry (Example: Evangelist – healing and miracles, missionaries – faith, word of wisdom, word of knowledge, deacon/deaconess – helps, mercy, giving)

  2. Pray for those gifts

  3. Exercise the gifts

Identify the Maximum Manifestation of Your Ministry

2 Timothy 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

I Timothy 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

  1. What effect and impact do you have when operating at maximum?

  2. Ask God to show you the maximum

  3. Endeavor by faith to operate on that level

Utilize every opportunity to minister (Acts 20:19-20; Romans 12:11)

  1. Minister to others in need

  2. Accept opportunities to exhort, preach, etc.

Publicize powerful miracles in the ministry (Romans 15:19)

  1. Talk about miracles/salvations/healings that occur

  2. Use testimonies of them during ministering

  3. Use it only to glorify God, not focus on self

  4. Write about it

  5. Use it to encourage and build the faith of others

  6. Demonstrates the fruits of the ministry

Work cooperatively with others in ministry (Ex. Timothy, Paul, etc.)

  1. Submit to leaders

  2. Have others join you in ministry endeavors

  3. Help others in the ministry

  4. Ask for help when needed

Utilize Media (Isaiah 40:9)

  1. Social Media – Facebook, Instagram, twitter, YouTube

  2. Upload videos of preaching/ministry

  3. Podcast of preaching

Train others in ministry (2 Timothy 2:2)

  1. Teach others how to minister

  2. Share your ministry with others

  3. Train others to replace you.
