Persecution from Family
Persecution in the Family - How to Respond?
In Times of Persecution Expect Revival
In the times of persecution, the cup of God’s wrath is being filled as his servants are mocked, mistreated and even killed. But in this time of persecution, let us pursue and expect the revival.
Habakkuk 3:2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.
(KJV)
God will Avenge the Persecuted
Ultimately, God will avenge the blood of the martyrs. Christians have no need to take up arms to fight against persecutors, or to wage physical war. Rather, in due time God will avenge his people. Therefore, we ought to leave the matter in God’s hand while we demonstrate his power and love to the world. The scripture below shows us that God will ultimately judge the persecutors of the saints.
Revelation 6:9-11 9And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

False Religions Matthew 10:17
False Christians
Doctrinal Attacks Matthew 9:3-5
How to Respond
Answer Ignorant Questions/Ideas Matthew 9:3-5 Matthew 12:1-9 (healing on Sabbath Day)
Where possible, answer ignorant questions with God’s word. Perhaps the hearing may be won by the patient teaching of God’s word.
Jesus corrected the Pharisees on the true meaning of the Sabbath Day.
Correct Religious Accusations with Authority Matthew 12:22-32 (Accusation of Beelzebub)
Where possible, and as led by the Spirit, correct and rebuke accusations against the gospel and the work of the Spirit.
Jesus sharply corrected the Pharisees when they accused him of casting out devils by the prince of devils (Beelzebub).
Leave them alone Matthew 15:13-14 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. 14Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
In many cases, leave your accusers to themselves.
The action of the blind will lead to their own mishap and downfall.
3) Family Betrayal - Matthew 10:21, 35 - 36
Hated of Own Family
Matthew 10:35-36 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
Betrayed by Household Members (Reported, Handed Over)
Matthew 10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
How to Respond
Prioritize God’s Family
Matthew 12:46-50 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. 47Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. 48But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? 49And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! 50For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Show love to your physical family, but remember that ultimately you are part of the family of God.
Realize that those who do God’s will are your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Take Protection from Those Who Receive You
Matthew 10:40-42 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.41He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. 42And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
God has designed for you to be taken care of and comforted by those who receive you because of your faith in Christ.
When others receive you due to your faith, receive their protection and care.
