Scriptures & Highlights

There are four sets of people God speaks of in Joel 2:28 upon which his revival outpouring would come upon:

  • Sons

  • Daughters

  • Young Men

  • Old Men

Then in Joel 2:29 it adds Handmaids and Servants. This shows that the revival is Genderless (it will include both male and female), Classless (will include people of all economic statuses), and Ageless (will include people of all ages).

We spoke briefly about women in revival. We will also talk about Children of Revival.

In times of Revival even Children, little children, pre-teens, teenagers, can experience the power of the outpouring of the Spirit of God.

  • Joel 2:28 … sons and daughters shall prophesy.

  • Jeremiah 1:5-7 Jeremiah was called from the days of childhood.

  • John 2:42, 49 ..Jesus was ready to do his father’s business at the age of twelve.

  • Matthew 19:14 .. suffer little children to come unto me...for such is the kingdom of heaven

Current News: According to CNN.com: In 2018, there have already been at least 23 school shootings where someone was hurt or killed. Over 20 people have died from the school shootings so far this year.

According to NYTimes.com:  “Finally, there is nascent, but increasing, evidence that violence begets violence, with one school shooting — especially if it receives a lot of publicity

This tells us that there will be more school shootings. Society has failed to find a suitable solution to these problems, but

The Real Weapon Needed is Revival among our youths.

Psalm 127:3-5 Lo, children are Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. 4As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Examples of Revival Among Children:

  1. Evangelist Ramabai in India was teaching hundreds of girls about the Holy Spirit at the Mukti Center in India in the early 1900’s. As they were praying, the Holy Spirit began to fill them. The power of God was so strong that fire could be seen on some of the girls. It is reported that one girl seemed to have been so engulfed with fire, that another girl went and got a pale of water to throw on her. After getting closer, she realized that it was not literal fire. The girl who seemed to have been on fire, later testified how she felt like all impurities were being burned out of her, and that the Lord wanted them to seek him.

  2. Also in India - The Khasi Revival - Revival broke out among the churches, and the children of the community felt led to have their own time of prayer. They would pray and cry out to God for many hours and the presence of God would be strong in the church. Often it seemed like the children would not want to leave the church, and for hours even when some children would leave others would come in. People would fill the churches as the children cried out to God. Then the children began to go out into the marketplaces to share the gospel. Some went house to house sharing the gospel, and others traveled to other villages to preach the gospel.

  3. Spreading from the New York Revival of 1857, In 1859, a revival broke out in Ballymena, North Ireland that resulted in thousands of conversions through the town. Children of age ten and twelve came to Christ and prayed strongly for adults to come to Christ. In fact, the Holy Spirit visited whole families and entire households would give themselves to prayer.

God Wants to Sharpen and Polish the Children for Revival

As Parents/Leaders How Can You Nurture Your Children for Revival?

  1. Lead them to Christ (Matthew 19:14) - suffer little children

    • Place them in God’s Hand

    • Teach them about God

    • Don’t Hinder them

  2. Be an Arrow of Revival - Be an example of revival - your radicalness for God will rub off on them.

    • 2 Tim. 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

  3. Teach them the Scriptures (memorize, explain)

    • 2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
