It's All About Sex?
Sexual Idolatry is at the heart of many of the wickedness in modern society. Frequently throughout the Bible, idolatry is linked with sexual immorality. Sexual immorality leads to idolatry because sexual immorality is a form of idolatry; likewise, idolatry often leads to sexual immorality. The Lord has revealed to me that the Christian church in America must ensure that they stand wholeheartedly against sexual sin even when the person in the white house may seem to be a friend of the church. God sent the prophet Nathan to rebuke David’s sexual sin even though David was a man after God’s heart.
Mass abortion, divorce, pornography, and even the feminist movement, and the fallout of the Me-Too movement can be traced to the Sexual Revolution of the 1960s. Following the theory of Sigmund Freud that the suppression of sexual desires can cause mental illness, the entertainment history began to publicize the idea that sex was not something to feel guilty or shameful about. The sexual revolution promoted casual sexual relationships, promiscuity, pre-marital sex, and so on. The sexual revolution was a manifestation of the sexual idolatry that broke out in America.
Manifestations of Sexual Idolatry
Unwarranted Divorces - Divorce rate has more than doubled around the world over the past four decades.[1]
Adultery - Adultery has increased around the world in occurrence and visibility.[2]
Fornication - a study of about ¾ of the world found that a majority embraced pre-marital sex as acceptable, only 46% found it morally unacceptable. In the United States alone at the start of the 20th century, almost 100% found pre-marital sex morally unacceptable, this dropped to about 70% in the middle of the century, 40% in the 1970s, and is about 25% currently.[3]
Same-Sex Marriage - over two dozen countries allow same-sex marriage and were almost all enacted during the 21st century. As a result, same-sex marriage is increasing around the world. [4]
Pornography - As of 2018, there were 26 Million porn websites which came to about.3 billion porn web pages. On a single website over 91 and a half billion porn videos were viewed in 2017. [5]
Abortion - More than 50 million abortions occurred worldwide between the period of 2010 - 2014 according to the World Health Organization. [6]
Sexual Entertainment - According to a study by psychologists at Dartmouth University conducted in 2012, children that are exposed to sexual content in films tend to have sex at a younger age, and treat sex more casually. “Researchers found that 68 percent of G, 82 percent of PG, and 85 percent of PG-13 rated movies of the 684 movies included in the study contained sexual situations.” [7]
Sexting - one study found that about 50% of adults have used their mobile device to either send or receive intimate content. [8] Another study from the American Psychological Association conducted in 2015 found the following: “The researchers found that 88 percent of participants reported ever having sexted and 82 percent reported they had sexted in the past year. Nearly 75 percent said they sexted in the context of a committed relationship and 43 percent said they sexted as part of a casual relationship.” [9]
Idolatry leads to Sexual Immorality
Hosea 4:12-13 My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.
13They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.
The Israelites were seeking direction from idols. The Bible says that they were under the influence of a spirit of whoredoms (prostitution). They were worshipping idols in high places (mountaintops and hills), and the idolatrous behavior was causing adultery and sexual deviancy to take place among them, specifically their children and spouses. So here you see that idolatry among the Israelites led to sexual immorality.
Sexuality Immorality Leads to spiritual Idolatry
Numbers 25:1-2
And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.2And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.
When God would not allow the prophet Balaam to curse the children of Israel, the prophet proceeded to advise Balak the king of Moab to cause the Israelites to sexually mix with the Moabites (Revelation 2:14). The result was devastating. The men of Israel began to become sexually involved with the Moabite women. The Moabite women would then invite the Israelites to worship their gods and eat food sacrificed to idols. This brought a plague among the people.
The Divine Intention for Sex
The Procreation of Creatures Made in God’s Image
Created in God’s Image
Mankind being created in God’s image means that humans would have the ability to reason and be rational. They would have the mind and ability to rule over God’s creation. Humankind would be a reflection of God’s glory and thus glorify God.
They would have language as the means of communication as God does all things with words.
Sense of Morality - Humankind across the world have an inner sense of morality.
God’s intention was for man to reproduce after his kind - reproducing creatures made in the image and likeness of God - a generation of people reflecting the glory of God. Sex was given for the physical intimacy of the marriage couple to reproduce mankind - creatures made in God’s image.
Today we are having the Degeneration of Mankind
Sexual Promiscuity - while aborting the mandate to reproduce
Denial of Man’s Uniqueness - as made in the image of God instead men are becoming beastly.
Despising of Mandate to Replenish Earth
God created man in his image. As such, mankind is uniquely different from animals, in that man reflects God’s glory. Mankind was indued with divine distinctions that when fully in manifestation and operation glorifies God. He created mankind both male and female. Therefore both genders are made in the image of God. The mandate of man was to be “fruitful and replenish the earth”, meaning to reproduce children. Therefore, the push in society to remove gender distinctions is a denial of the image of God, and ultimately a rejection of man’s mandate. This is the same with homosexual relationships both denying the image of God, and the mandate to procreate. This debases mankind to beasts - man lives with a beastly nature when they deny the image of God and the mandate given to man. This denial of the image of God is rooted in idolatry - the refusal to acknowledge God as God.
Today we see this manifested also in the dishonor of marriage. As marriage was instituted by God for the propagation of the human kind - a creature made in the image of God, and therefore the highest display of God’s glory in the earth. The dishonor of marriage is seen in mass, unwarranted divorces, redefinition of marriage, blurring of the gender lines. These acts which are connected to and or rooted in sex, are done in idolatry, and rejection of God’s glory and an embrace of the beastly nature in man.
Malachi 2:15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

Mark 10:2-5 And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him. 3And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? 4And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. 5And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. 6But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. 9What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
In addressing divorce, Jesus goes back to the origin of marriage. He rejected casual divorce and remarriage, and confirmed the honor of marriage as a God-given institution. The oneness of the man and woman in marriage is given by God. The frivolous practice of casual divorce and remarriage for any reason is a dishonor of the marriage bond.

Homosexual perversion is the result of man rejecting the glory and image of God. They instead look to created things in their idolatry and denial of God. Therefore, God gave them up to their own lust. Homosexual practice denies the functional responsibility of sex to reproduce, and reduces man to just a beastly nature.
God Uses Procreation in His Work of Redemption and Election
Redemption came through the seed of a woman
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
God moved upon the parents of Moses to save him
Of the generations of Israel God would leave a remnant
Romans 9:29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodom, and been made like unto Gomorrah.
This shows the evil of Abortion as it is a rejection of God’s mandate, plan and purpose in the earth. It is in the same spirit as Pharaoh in seeking to kill the firstborn, and in Herod in seeking the kill the men child.
