Making Major Life Decisions 2

Making Major Life Decisions 2

In this episode, we discuss: - how to make major life decisions - discerning God's will in decision-making

How to Make Major Life Choices:

  1. Choose God’s Choice

Proverbs 3:5-7 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

Don't just make a plan for success. Acknowledge God. Fear Him. Make sure you check if it’s God.

  1. Acknowledge him

  2. Fear Him

  3. Follow the Bible - Ps. 109:105 - Thy word is a lamp

  4. Pray and meditate

  5. Ask if it’s his will

James 4:13-15 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

2. Choose Revelation

Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of

thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

Abraham did not just make a major life change. He got a revelation.

  1. Pray for direction

  2. God may give a Vision or Dream

  3. God will confirm or repeat it many times

  4. God may give a Prophetic word 2 Chronicles 20:20

3. Choose Faithfulness

Proverbs 8:34-35 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my

gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

35For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

Luke 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

  1. Seek God Daily

  2. Be Faithful in small decisions

  3. Do small things well

  4. Make choices daily that are aligned with your purpose - with where you are going

  5. Don’t Delay a Leading. If you miss church constantly for small things, then you will make a wrong decision in larger things.

4. Choose to Follow a Spiritual Leader

Ruth 1:16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

Isaac to Abraham - Genesis 24 - Abraham left instructions to Isaac marriage

  1. Follow  their example and instruction on marriage and life

  2. Follow after their godly spiritual character

  3. Follow their advice

2 Timothy 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

2 Timothy 2:21-22 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's. 22But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

For example Ruth - Naomi, Isaac - Abraham

5. Choose Wise Counsel

Proverbs 15:22 Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude

of counsellers they are established.

  1. Avoid ungodly advice

  2. Look for biblical counsel

    6. Choose to Consider Collected Information

Proverbs 14:8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly

of fools is deceit.

Proverbs 4:26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

Isaac’s servant watched Rebekah’s action and pondered on it

    1. A. Gather information from observation

    2. B. Gather information from research

7. Choose to Sacrifice

for Major Breakthroughs

Isaiah 43:18-19  Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of

old.19Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

  • Moses chose to suffer affliction than to maintain the prestige of being called the son of pharaoh's daughter

    • Hebrew 11:2 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; 25Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;4-25
