8 Things Christians Should Not Say
As Christians, it is VERY important for us to be mindful of the words that come out of our mouths. Paul told the church in Ephesus that our speech matters. Our speech can either build up or tear down the ones we're speaking to—and others around us who are listening. so as Christians “Our speech, just like the rest of our actions, should reflect the character of God. Because we are made in his image.
So here are eight things Christians should not say.
Good Luck:
If you are a believer in Christ, you should not rely on luck or weird superstitious things, rather you need to rely on God and his promises. Christians don't believe in superstitious things. We believe in an all-powerful, loving, all-knowing God. We don’t need luck, we don't need some coincidental thing to happen. Romans 8:28. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.
Instead of saying good luck, you could say may God bless you, Or you could even say I wish you the best.
Knock on Wood/You Jinxed It/Fingers Crossed:
Knocking on wood or crossing your fingers sends the idea that doing these things can somehow be able to send off evil spirits. However, instead, say something like don’t speak that into my life. Because we know that we have the power of life or death upon our tongues.

Oh My God / On God:
The Bible is very clear about this in Exodus 20:7 “Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.”
Profanity:
You should not be walking around with a dirty mouth. As Christians you have the Holy Spirit inside of you and he will convict you of sin. There are some Christians that curse and go on as if nothing they did was wrong. They don't even feel guilty about it. Ephesians 4:29 “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” You can’t be using foul and bad language then go and worship God with the same lips. It’s not ok.
Karma, “karma is going to come around”:
The real definition of karma isn’t even what we think. It’s not when you do something bad or wrong in this life it’ll come back to you.
The roots and origin are found in the Buddhist and Hindu religions. So as a Christian why would you want to use a phrase that has to do with another religion? And they believe in reincarnation. Karma is supposed to come back in “your next life.”
Reincarnation is the religious teaching that after bodily death, the soul or spirit begins a new life either as a human, animal, or spiritual. Christianity does not teach reincarnation. The Bible says in (Hebrews 9:27) And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.
Asking About Zodiac Signs or Saying Zodiac Signs and Associated Behaviors
Seeking predictions about our future or personality is demonic since it solicits supernatural knowledge outside of God.
This is sinful. We should not be looking into signs to determine a person's personality. The world may look into a person's sign to predict what's going to happen in someone's life but as Christians we don't look at that.
Isaiah 47:13-14 Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.14Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
Observing the stars and following zodiac signs will fail according to the above scripture in Isaiah 47:13-14.
Don’t judge
It seems that many people are now allergic to the word, “judge.” When you point out something that’s clearly a sinful behavior, Christians are quick to say, “don’t judge.” Christians today are compelled not to judge other people. For them, judging is equivalent to condemning. They believe that we are not to judge since we can’t see people’s hearts.
The truth of the matter is that there are two types of judging: the wrong one and the right one. The wrong type of judging is stated by Jesus, Himself. He said in Matthew 7:1-5: “Judge not, that you be not judged.” Why?
“For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye?“
So what did Jesus say we are supposed to do? He said: “First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
The main point of Christ here is that we must judge ourselves FIRST. We must identify our sins, correct them, and do what is right in God’s eyes. Only then you can properly follow Christ’s later admonition:
“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with RIGHTEOUS judgment” (John 7:24).
Promises You Cannot Keep
you shouldn't be out here making promises and not keeping them. Jesus says in Matthew 5:37 'But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. Be a man or woman of your word. As Christ's followers, we are images of God and we all know God is a man of his word. He is a promise keeper and we are to be the same way. Don't just say to someone I'm going to pray for you and don't do it. I know some people who are guilty of that. when you say hey I'll pray for you, pray for that person. In Ecclesiastes 5:5-6 'Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. ' 'Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands? ' Trust is rare in this world now. trust should set us apart from unbelievers. If you're a Christian, people should know that they can trust you because you keep your word.
Conclusion:
Wisdom and godly knowledge do not come naturally, you need to study God’s word to really determine God’s will for us. So the next time you make a statement, make sure you know God is happy with those words. Remember that we are in the world but we are not part of the world. We are set apart so don't do or say what everyone else is doing or saying.
